EFFUTU MCE LAUNCHES THE 2022 ABOAKYIR FESTIVAL CRAFT EXHIBITION

The Aboakyir festival of the people of Winneba on Thursday May 5, 2022 witnessed a cutting-edge event with the launching of the Aboakyir Festival Craft Exhibition.
Designed and initiated by the Centre for National Culture in collaboration with the Ghana Association of Visual Artistes (GAVA), the exhibition was to create an opportunity for Visual Artistes and craft men and women to showcase their handiwork in a bid to promote the tradition and culture of the indigenous Effutu people and Ghana as a whole.
The event grounds were the centre of attraction of the Aboakyir festival which attracted the patronage of people from all walks of life including traditional leaders, educational institutions, tourists, and revellers.
Launching the event, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim lauded the Centre for National Culture and GAVA for the initiative. He observed the Craft exhibition is highly invaluable in terms of identifying the unique talents of the people in the area as well as the bright prospects it could bring to the Effutu Municipality, both socially and economically. He continued to pledge the Assembly’s support and encouragement for the initiative.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim highlighted on the economic importance of the exhibition to the area which would also help the tourism sector to flourish in the Municipality.
He appealed to the residents of Effutu as well as all revelers to participate fully in the 4-day exhibition to promote the tradition and culture of the area as well as bring out the tourism and economic opportunities that come with it.
The chairman for the occasion and president of the Ghana Association of Visual Artistes (GAVA), Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong, appealed to the Government to invest more in the Creative Arts/Visual Arts sector to continue to put Ghana on the ladder of the number one tourism destination in Africa and the world at large.
He charged the youth to create employment opportunities for themselves by identifying their God-given talents in arts and harnessing them to have a vocation to improve their living conditions.
