DANIEL BOTCHWAY

DANIEL BOTCHWAY

About the Artist...

Daniel Botchway a renowned, young Ghanaian artist in collages and paintings, using acrylic and recycled materials which include pieces of fabric, cardboards, sawdust, worn-out footwear etc. He believes and conceptualizes his works of art to serve as historical tales to portray the dynamism in the Ghanaian traditional mode of living from the past to the present generation. Daniel’s painting themes and settings are mostly market scenes and this is attributed and influenced by the fascinating fact that, he as a young boy, grew in the neighborhood close to markets.
He is inspired by the bright future tomorrow holds to the born and unborn generation. As such, uses his pallets, paint and brushes to tell a historical, monologue, picturesque tales of the past to the present. This he does so well that, the upcoming generation see how fortunate they are and be appreciative of the strides society has made.
Daniel believes that every tale irrespective of its nature must be told undiluted since no history was made without the past. He is very optimistic about life and often jokes that “the father you see today, was a crawling baby of yesterday” He believes there is barrier between the First and Almighty Artist, GOD (Yehowah). He has worked tirelessly to develop and materialize his talent.
He has been collected widely both home and abroad. His unique paintings can be located on the walls of Executive Board Rooms, Conference and Theatre Halls as well as Drama and Photo Studios. Notable among collectors include Sir Sam Jonah, His Exc. Lt. Gen. Joseph Henry Smith and Wife, Mr. Herve’ Borna, The Late Kofi Ansah, KOP Engineering Limited, Lister Hospital, Legra (Legal Consultancy), RLG Communications.
